Saskatchewan Band Association Distinguished Band Director Award

This award shall be presented to a Saskatchewan band director who has made an outstanding contribution to band in Saskatchewan.  This contribution must be consistent with the ideals of the Saskatchewan Band Association. The nominee shall be an exemplary individual who displays strong musical leadership in his/her community and the province.  Over the course of his/her career, the individual shall show a consistent promotion of musical excellence.

 

Procedures for the award:

Nominations:

a)  Shall be made by a SBA member

b)  Shall be sent in writing to the SBA Board of Directors

c)  Should include:

• name and address of nominee

• name and address of nominator

• a brief resume of nominee, supporting the nomination

 

Selection and Presentation:

a)  The SBA Board of Directors will review the nominations at a SBA board meeting.

b)  The nominator will be notified of the board's decision within ten days of the board meeting.

c)  The nominator will acknowledge receipt of the decision within ten days.

d)  Nominations should be sent to the SBA office.  All nominations for this award are due postmarked no later than September 1st of each year.

 

A SBA board member will:

a)  Forward a press release to the SBA Journal or newsletter and local newspapers.

b)  Contact the nominator about writing a short speech in praise of the recipient.  The speech is to be given at the music conference banquet.

c) Awards will be presented yearly at the music conference banquet.

 

Distinguished Saskatchewan Music Volunteer Award

Criteria:

This award is presented to a volunteer who has demonstrated an outstanding contribution to band in the province.  The award shall be requested by a member of SBA. One award per organization per year shall be granted.

The award will be a SBA certificate signed by the SBA president and a representative from the band.  Requests should be forwarded to the SBA executive director at least four weeks prior to the presentation date.

This award is open to the volunteers of a band where the band director and/or the band organization is a current member of SBA.
