Band Director Gathering
On behalf of the SBA, the mentorship committee invites all Band Directors to attend an informal gathering on Saturday, March 13th 2010 at “Bridges”(2415 22nd Street West) in Saskatoon at 4:00 after the North Jr Band concert. A beverage and appetizers will provided by the SBA. Come one, Come all to sit and talk shop!

Conducting Clinic
The BattlefordsKiwanis Music Festival Association and Wayne Toews offer a free conducting clinic on Tuesday, March 23rd from 7:00 until 9:30 p.m. at theNorth Battleford City Kinsmen Band Hall, 1801 104th Street, North Battleford, SK..The workshop is open to all without charge.It will be of particular interest to band and choir directors who would like to improve their conducting skills.To be sure that sufficient materials and refreshments are available, those wishing to participate are asked to confirm their attendance to Catherine Richardson at cathy.richardson@lskysd.ca

Provincial Honour Groups 2010
SMEA Honour Groups 2010 Program rolls out SmartMusic pilot, and season info.

University of Saskatchewan Wind Orchestra Concert
The University of Saskatchewan Wind Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Glen Gillis will be presenting their Spring Concert, Friday, March 19, 2010 at 7:30 PM in Convocation Hall on the campus of the U of S.
The diverse program will feature Meaghan Haughian on flute performing A Lindisfarne Rhapsody by British composer Philip Sparke. The program will also feature guest conductor Mr. Brian Unverricht conducting Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Sea Songs.
In addition the concert will include works by Samuel R. Hazo (…Go), H. Owen Reed (Mass from La Fiesta Mexicana), John Barnes Chance (Incantation and Dance), Percy Grainger (The Gum-Suckers March), Eric Whitacre (Noisy Wheels of Joy), Glen Gillis (Aria for Winds), and Thomas Doss (Romanian Dances).Tickets will be available at the door, adults $10.00, students/seniors $5.00.For additional information please call Glen Gillis at 966-8356 or glen.gillis@usask.ca.
The Saskatoon Brass Band will be performing in a "Battle of the Bands" with special guest band, Bridge City Brass Band on Sunday, March 21@ 7:30 pm at Christ Church Anglican, 515 28th St West Saskatoon. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, children free.
Battle of the Bands

Prairie Brass Band Festival
The Prairie Brass Band Festival is taking place in Saskatoon this year on April 23rd and 24th. The event is open to any interested brass player or percussionist, who plays a brass band instrument. This years guest conductor is David Druce from the Maple Leaf Band in Ottawa. There are 2 days of rehearsals clinics and social gatherings. The final concert for the event will be at 3rd Ave. United Church in Saskatoon on Saturday, April 24th at 7:30 pm. The concert will have performances by all the participating bands and a mass band performance conducted by the guest conductor. Bari Sax for Sale:
I recently upgraded to a Selmer and so I have a mint B&S Medusa bari sax that I'd like to find a good home for. It's a great horn. Frankly, the Selmer is not too big a step up in build quality, and the sound on the B&S rivals it. I am asking $3500 for it. Contact Louis Christ at:
