The 2012 Saskatchewan Orchestral Association International Conducting workshop with Wayne Toews will be held July 21 to 28 in Saskatoon. Saskatchewan musicians are invited to apply for a substantial bursary. Requests should be sent to admin@conductorschool.com. Participants in the workshop will conduct duo pianists and a string orchestra. By the end of February details about the workshop will be posted at www.conductorschool.com.
Advocacy Idea Bank
The SBA is committed to creating and promoting advocacy materials for band directors across the Province. If you would like to share any piece of advocacy with your colleagues, please email Darrin Oehlerking (darrin.oehlerking@usask.ca) It could be a great quote, a little tidbit of information, a collaborative activity or an entire lesson that you have found works well with promoting your program in and out of your school. We hope to create an Idea Bank to share with all SBA members that will reaffirm how and why we do what we do (You will receive full credit for your idea, unless you wish to remain anonymous). We also hope this Idea Bank will also go further to explain to parents, administrators and politicians why band music and music education is so vitally important within our schools.
