Dear Band Directors (SOUTH),
Thank you so much for your overwhelming support!! We have received names of 95 students wishing to participate in Sask. Junior Honour Band South. Our venue has been changed to SHELDON WILLIAMS COLLEGIATE in Regina, where we will have to use the stage for rehearsals and performance. The maximum capacity on the stage is 75 students. Please make sure that your students are aware of the change of venue, which was originally Leboldus High School.
In order to reduce the size of the group, we've done our best to consider the grade level of the student, instrumentation, and number of students submitted by each teacher. Click on the link below for a list of students that have been accepted, along with a list of alternate students. If any of the students have decided not to participate, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can fill the spot with an alternate.
We are getting the music copied and we hope to have it mailed to each teacher next week. We very much appreciate your assistance in getting this music distributed to your students. The parts will be assigned at random, and if there are any concerns, we will address them during the rehearsals. We ask that you please take some time to go over the music with your students, and if possible, help them with preparation. The repertoire that has been chosen is: Carpathia/William Owens, African Festival/Quincy Hilliard, Sun Peaks/Ralph Ford , The Voyageurs/Pierre La Plante, Mars arr. by Johnie Vinson. We have had a couple of directors who wished to check their own library and if available, copy and distribute to students right away.
Click the links below for the letter of acceptance to give to students, as well as the student registration and medical form. Please distribute these to your students as soon as possible. We will NOT be emailing or mailing this information to each individual student. The parents can fill out the forms and mail them along with the cheque for $50. We realize that some band programs pay all or a portion of the fee, so we will leave it up to you as to whether you want to collect the forms and send them in, or have the parents send them. Note that the forms and fee should be mailed to the Saskatchewan Band Association, 34 Sunset Drive, Yorkton, Sk. S3N 3K9
Due to our short time-line this year, we need to have the information about t-shirt size as soon as possible. Please remind your students to email their t-shirt size to Renee Mahajan at narvel22@yahoo.com by Feb. 11th. Again, if you would prefer to collect the information and email it, that would be fine. If you have already sent this information, there is no need to send it again. Unfortunately, we initially forgot to include the t-shirt size in the information that was emailed out, so many of you did not send it.
Again, we thank you for taking the time to give your students this opportunity. We know that it will be a very valuable educational experience. If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact anyone on the committee. Please note that Jane will be away from Feb. 8-16 and unable to access email or phone.
