Education Building Dear Summer Band Camp Students and Parents; Welcome to the Saskatchewan
Band Association’s 2010 Saskatoon Senior Band Camp! This year’s camp is again going to be
action packed with many activities to make your week both educational and
fun! We have an excellent staff of
qualified professionals lined up who are excited to share their musical
knowledge with you. Aside from the
many musical activities (private lessons, sectionals, and of course full band
just to name a few), we also have numerous social activities planned to give
you a chance to relax and meet many new friends. Please read the following information carefully. It will likely answer many of the
questions you may have regarding the week. Sunday July 25th 2:00pm: GENERAL CAMP REGISTRATION - For all campers. Location: Education Building, just outside of Quance Theatre 2:00-2:45pm: RESIDENCE REGISTRATION - For those campers staying in
residence for the week, your first task is to check-in at the University Residence, Sask

Asked Questions: Which musical supplies should I bring with me to camp? –
READ THIS CAREFULLY! Make sure to bring your instrument (in good working condition), a
folding music stand, reeds, valve oil, cork grease, slide grease, mallets,
drum sticks, neckstrap, etc. All of these things should have your
name clearly marked on them. What should I bring with me Sunday night to General Registration
and the Auditions? - your instrument and audition music - $20 for a Camp Picture (optional) - $20 for a CD Recording of the Final Concert (optional) - $20 for a Photo Slide-Show of the many activities that will take
place throughout the week! (optional) What should I wear during the week? Casual dress is the requirement for the week. The concert dress will be dark pants
and shoes, as well as the band camp t-shirt you’ll receive at
registration. Feel free to bring a
sweater, as it has been known to get chilly in parts of the Education Building.
Make sure to clearly mark your name on all of your property. What should I do with my instrument etc. during the week? Quance Theatre will be available to store your instrument over-night
during the week. We will ensure
the room is kept locked. However,
it is recommended that you list your instrument on your home insurance policy,
as the Saskatchewan Band Association can not be held responsible for any damage
to or loss of private property incurred during the Summer Band Camp. Do not bring unnecessary valuables with you to Camp! Do I have to bring my own lunch? All campers must bring their own lunch, with the
exception of the campers staying in Residence. Lunch will be provided for all
campers staying in Residence. All
campers are expected to eat lunch with camp staff unless arrangements are made
ahead of time with the camp coordinators.
This includes lunch on Saturday before the Final Concert. Don’t bring a lot of spending money to
camp, as
pop and snack machines are again off limits this year! Do we stay for supper or go home for supper? All local campers must be
picked up for the supper break each afternoon at 3:15pm and be returned to
the Education Building at 5:50pm for evening rehearsal. Residence students will congregate at
3:15 daily to walk over to the Residence for supper. Please do your best to pick up and drop off your child on
time to keep things running smoothly.
Do I have to participate in all the activities planned? Yes! The camp is
designed to give you the best of both worlds, learning
and fun. You will not be allowed
to miss or skip out on any of the camp sessions or recreation activities. Please don’t book doctor or dentist appointments
during the week of camp. Where is the Camp Office and how can we contact it? During the week of the camp the Camp Office will be located in Room 1039 of the Education
Building. The office will be open
from 8:30am to 3:30pm Sunday to Friday.
We will provide you with the phone number on the first day of the camp
(once we are assigned one).
Someone will always be in or around the office. Feel free to call and/or leave a
message. You may contact a staff
member 24 hours a day, as after hours the office phone is transferred to a cell
phone. Can parents come and visit their son/daughter at camp? Feel free to come and visit the camp during the week. Please ensure that you check in with
the Camp Office to let us know who you are and who you are visiting. We cannot interrupt classes or lessons
for visits. Are there concerts that parents can attend throughout the week? Yes. There will be
several recitals during the week, as well as a student ensemble concert ... and
of course the final band concert on Friday! Check your schedule for when the other concerts take place. The staff recital is always a hit! Can I get a Group Photograph, Final Concert Recording and/or Photo
