SBA Awards & Recognition Program
The Saskatchewan Band Association Awards and Recognition program offers scholarships to students and recognizes distinguished band directors, administrators, and volunteers. Students enrolled in their first year in Music Education at either the University of Regina or the University of Saskatchewan are encouraged to consider applying for one of two Beverley Shore Memorial Scholarships
Nominations for the Distinguished Band Director and Outstanding Administrator Awards may only be submitted by SBA members.
The Beverley Shore Memorial Scholarship
The Beverley Shore Memorial Scholarship was established by the family and friends of the late Beverley Shore in partnership with the Saskatchewan Band Association. Beverley was very active in the Saskatchewan Band Community. She was a Board Member and played a prominent role in organizing the Saskatchewan Music Conference for several years. Beverley brought her enthusiasm and generosity to all her community musical endeavours. The scholarships have been established to further honour her memory.
Two recipients are chosen each year using the following criteria: The recipients will be Saskatchewan students enrolled in their first year of Music Education majoring in instrumental music at the University of Saskatchewan and/or the University or Regina. The recipients will have been band students in high school in Saskatchewan and will have made a significant contribution to their school band program and band in their community. The recipients will display the qualities that Miss. Shore had, including generosity, compassion, love of music, and altruism.
The award is granted once per year in the fall. Stay tuned for the 2018 application deadline.
