The Prairie Music Residency (PMR) was set up by the Saskatoon Brass Bands Inc. in 2013 to help further enrich the long-standing tradition of British-style brass banding in Saskatchewan and North America, while offering players a chance to work with world class brass band musicians and improve their skills in an intimate and inclusive environment.  Now in its 8th year, PMR has a proven track record of success!

PMR offers two distinct courses/educational streams:

  1. The Brass Band Residency is open to any experienced brass player who wishes to take part and improve their existing skills and knowledge.
  2. The Prairie Percussion Residency  runs simultaneously with the Brass Band Residency.  Percussionists will take part in the Brass Band rehearsals in the morning and then take part in clinics, masterclasses and small ensembles in the afternoon under the tutelage of our guest percussion director and faculty.

PMR will take place at the University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon) from August 5th to 9th, 2020. We have an outstanding group of faculty members including the Tor-Q Percussion Quartet, Dr. Arris Golden, Helen Varley and Dean McNeill.
